Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on medium and high voltage electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground distribution systems.
  • Inspect, test, and repair electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit interrupters, reclosers, capacitors, voltage regulators, and medium voltage switches.
  • Operate, inspect, and perform preventative maintenance on medium voltage overhead and underground distribution systems.
  • Perform electrical functions, including switching operations, inspection of equipment, monitoring, and assessing the reliability of medium and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Install, connect, test, operate, modify, repair, and replace auxiliary support equipment in sub-stations, switch stations, and associated buildings.
  • Provide support to electricians, as needed, and perform maintenance and repair on electrical systems, including generators, transformers, motors, medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) switchgear, and other equipment.
Requirements
  • 4 years of journey-level experience as a skilled high voltage electrician, and/or completion of a certified apprenticeship training; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance, repair, service, installation, modification, troubleshooting, inspection, and monitoring of medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems and associated industrial electrical equipment.
  • Experience working in medium and high voltage environments (>600V KV), working in and around electrical equipment and distribution lines, such as transformers, switches, circuit breakers, recording instruments, and control systems.
  • Valid Driver License and State of California General Electrician License/Certification (preferred).
Working Environment

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to excessive noise, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity, and working in confined quarters. The ability to follow safe precautions and utilize appropriate safety devices, equipment, and gear to safely perform duties is essential.
