Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the University of Missouri. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing professional engineering services to meet client requests and needs, as well as managing the day-to-day activities of other project team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering Services: Prepare engineering studies and reports to develop long-range facilities planning, and provide engineering analysis of projects, including preliminary design, calculation, life-cycle cost, and equipment selections.
  • Design and Construction: Perform mechanical engineering design, including heating and cooling load calculations, HVAC equipment selections, HVAC distribution design, hydronic/steam calculations and design, and plumbing design.
  • Project Management: Advise clients on project scope, schedule, and budgetary constraints, and understand the interrelationship between these project components and how they affect project viability.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with department representatives to determine and coordinate design criteria for completion of design drawings, and advise concerning practical design and feasibility of design drawings for specific projects.
  • Workload Management: Plan, assign, and manage workload and activities of professional staff, provide assistance and instruction, assure accuracy and completeness, and code compliance.
  • Review and Approval: Review and seal project specifications and construction documents prepared by the technical staff, and review and approve project cost estimates and schedules.
  • Contract Administration: Manage bid process, perform contract administration tasks, conduct construction observations, and punch lists.
  • Software Proficiency: Exhibit proficiency with AutoDesk AutoCAD/Revit software.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
  • Licensure may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering (area of engineering expertise is dependent upon departmental needs), or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired, is necessary.
  • Licensed as a professional engineer and with the ability to become licensed in the state of Missouri is required.
  • At least 6 years' experience in engineering (applicable to the position).
