We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Surgeon to join our team at the US Veterans Health Administration. As a General Surgeon, you will be responsible for performing general surgical operations, outpatient ambulatory surgical procedures, and inpatient general surgery consultations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general surgical operations, outpatient ambulatory surgical procedures, and inpatient general surgery consultations.
- Follow each patient through the full continuum of care, including admissions, discharges, and post-operative care.
- Assure the provision of high-quality and safe patient care both in and outside the operating room.
- Manage and organize General Surgery assessment and preparation of patients for surgery.
- Initial evaluation and overall workup of general surgery patients.
- Inform veterans to the risks as well as benefits of upcoming surgical procedures.
- Enter notes electronically in a paperless medical record system.
- Participate in peer review and quality improvement activities.
- Committee membership.
- Understand and abide by the Medical Bylaws of this facility.
- United States Citizenship.
- Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- License: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Additional Requirement: General Surgery Experience is required.
- Board Certification in Surgery.
VA Directive and Handbook 5019, applicants must be able to perform the duties as a Physician.
