Plasma Donation Screener

Purpose and Scope
The Donor Screener is responsible for conducting thorough screening procedures to determine the suitability of plasma donors. This includes reviewing health-related documents, taking vital signs, and ensuring compliance with FDA regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer health history questionnaires to new and repeat donors
- Manage donor flow throughout the center
- Communicate delays and other issues to center management and staff
- Document activities as necessary
- Set up and operate instruments used for testing donor vitals and other station equipment
- Assess donor weight and vital records
- Ensure the area is clean and maintained according to regulations
- Refill supplies and clean machines/station at the conclusion of the shift
- Answer donor inquiries
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety rules
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong customer service skills
- Proficient in English (read, write, speak) with legible handwriting
- Current CPR card
- Proficient with computer entry
- May be required to travel for training
Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to talk and hear, and involves regular use of hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, and controls. Vision abilities include close vision, and the ability to stand for extended intervals, walk, climb, and balance. Physical ability to operate equipment used in screening and donor floor areas that may require repetitive motions and manual dexterity. Ability to lift, tug, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other conditions are common to a donor center. Personal protective equipment required such as eyewear, lab coats, and gloves.
