Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Janitorial Specialist to join our team at Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court. As a key member of our facilities maintenance staff, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our clients and employees.

About the Job

The ideal candidate will have experience in institutional cleaning and be familiar with standard cleaning equipment, materials, and chemical products used in this field. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and previous experience in institutional cleaning is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the Detention Center, including offices, corridors, restrooms, dispensary, and kitchen.
  • Clean, dust, scrub, wash, mop, polish, and buff floors, walls, and other surfaces as needed.
  • Strip, wash, and wax floors in units, corridors, kitchen, restrooms, and offices as needed and periodically during the year.
  • Replenish cleaning supplies on a daily basis, including towels, soaps, and toilet paper in restrooms.
  • Complete an inventory of storeroom supplies monthly and equipment throughout the Detention Center every six months.
  • Read all labels on chemicals and determine appropriate use according to state law to avoid hazardous health conditions.
  • Perform special cleaning assignments on a weekly basis, such as washing and cleaning screens and streamers in the kitchen area and shower areas in living units.
  • In emergency situations, clean spills, including disinfecting and sterilizing where required.
