POSITION OVERVIEW

The Laboratory Education Facilitator plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience by managing laboratory resources, preparing the instructional environment, overseeing student engagement, and fostering active participation in learning activities. This position involves close collaboration with the lead educator to address student performance and ensure uniformity in content delivery and assessment.


QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate should possess a master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, along with current certification from the state board in their area of expertise. A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a clinical setting is essential. Strong oral communication and organizational skills are required, along with the ability to respond effectively to the needs of adult learners and work collaboratively within a team.


WORK SCHEDULE

This is a part-time position requiring 15-20 hours per week, as scheduled.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and maintain the laboratory environment.
  • Organize and oversee laboratory equipment; recommend purchases as necessary.
  • Deliver instructional content for the laboratory component of the course.
  • Monitor and assess student progress; provide constructive feedback and facilitate engagement in learning activities.
  • Evaluate student performance through practical, oral, and written assessments.
  • Supervise laboratory assistants when available.
  • Report student grades to the lead educator at the conclusion of the term.
  • Collaborate with the lead educator to ensure consistent content and assessment practices, suggesting improvements for future terms.
  • Act as a liaison between students and the university.
  • Adhere to policies outlined in the student and part-time faculty handbook.
  • Model professionalism in all interactions within and outside the educational setting.
  • Engage in self-evaluation of teaching effectiveness and set goals for personal development.

May include other duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree or higher.
  • Prior experience in a clinical setting is preferred.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Licensed occupational, physical, or speech therapist from an accredited institution with demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
  • Current certification from the state board in the chosen specialization.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Laboratory Education Facilitators are appointed for specific assignments that may vary by term. Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on clinical and teaching experience.
