Position Overview

About the Role:
We are currently seeking an Operations Electrical Engineer with a strong background in supporting operational facilities for wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role involves troubleshooting issues both remotely and on-site, as well as establishing standardized practices across various facilities. You will provide essential support to site personnel regarding SCADA systems, alarm management, substation components, protections and controls, switching procedures, and maintenance program development. This position may offer remote work flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in resolving unplanned outages by analyzing relay event files, guiding onsite teams to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic testing on devices and systems to address alarms and faults.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to ensure timely equipment restoration.
  • Develop and uphold reliability procedures for field equipment.
  • Maintain regular communication with management, asset managers, and plant personnel to meet customer requirements.
  • Engage in or lead initiatives aimed at improving business unit performance.
  • Oversee external professionals and equipment OEMs to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and develop new controls as necessary.
  • Perform root cause analysis and present findings to cross-functional teams, including management.
  • Support compliance with NERC requirements as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, particularly in power systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of communication systems used in the power generation sector for configuring and troubleshooting SEL relays, RTAC, network devices, and substation equipment.
  • Proven ability to identify issues and work collaboratively to resolve them.
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation related to renewable energy projects, including local codes, civil and electrical drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in using software tools such as SEL tools, MS Office Suite, and data analytics systems.
  • Willingness to be on call during nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
  • Flexibility to travel for technical support and troubleshooting as operational needs dictate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of relevant experience in the renewable energy sector.
  • Advanced degrees in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience in the design and maintenance of SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with substation physical components and protection/control systems.
