As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing production areas, developing work instructions and manufacturing processes, and identifying and procuring manufacturing equipment and tools.
Key Responsibilities- Process Development and Control
- Lead process development and control activities, utilizing injection molding experience to drive efficiency and quality.
- Develop and implement process improvements to reduce waste and increase productivity.
- Manufacturing Support
- Provide manufacturing support to Production, New Product Development, and R&D teams in the design and development of new processes and products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, process validation, and adherence to quality standards.
- Operations Improvement
- Support daily manufacturing operations as a subject matter expert to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, reducing downtime and increasing efficiency.
- Design and Development
- Participate in design control efforts related to risk analysis (FMEA) and design reviews.
- Evaluate product designs for manufacturability and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Equipment and Tooling
- Identify and procure new manufacturing equipment and tooling to support production needs.
- Develop, lead, and document equipment and tool qualifications to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Training and Development
- Develop and document work instructions and train appropriate team members to ensure knowledge transfer and consistency.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing.
- Investigations and Troubleshooting
- Lead and support defective product investigations, using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve quality.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a manufacturing engineer or in a similar role.
- Skills and Certifications
- Established background and experience in thermo plastic or silicone injection molding.
- Experience with writing qualification documents.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Certification preferred.
- Certification or demonstrated experience with SolidWorks and AutoCad.
- Personal Qualities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
- Self-motivated, with minimal supervision required.
- Effective communication, listening, and diagnostic skills.
