Overview:
The Clinical Speech Pathologist II is responsible for evaluating and treating individuals with various speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive challenges.

This role is designed for professionals who can competently manage a diverse patient caseload in their clinical environment while performing all necessary speech-language pathology duties with limited supervision.

The therapist may seek mentorship in more intricate cases and might face challenges when providing coverage across different settings.

This position fosters communication among interdisciplinary team members, confidently treats returning patients, and serves as an advocate for both patients and colleagues.


Responsibilities:
Conducts evaluations and provides treatment for a wide range of diagnoses, including more complex cases.


Performs thorough assessments of patients experiencing speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to evaluate their communication and oral motor capabilities.


Contributes to the creation and execution of evidence-based, tailored treatment strategies that reflect assessment results, patient objectives, and unique requirements.

Informs patients and their families about treatment strategies, home exercises, and self-management practices to enhance recovery outcomes.


Tracks and records patient progress, treatment results, and responses to interventions, allowing for necessary adjustments to treatment plans.


Collaborates with team members to formulate and implement discharge plans and recommendations for ongoing care, occasionally requiring assistance from colleagues.

Communicates progress and current status to relevant parties, which may include family members or healthcare professionals.


Assists in the orientation and training of new staff, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the skills and performance of peers.

Performs additional duties as reasonably assigned.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

Required:
Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligibility for it through a Clinical Fellowship Year

Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during the Supervised Experience Year

BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
