POSITION OVERVIEW


The Process Engineering Specialist collaborates closely with the management team at one or more bioprocessing facilities to ensure optimal plant operations and to drive continuous improvement and capital projects.

This role focuses on enhancing operational efficiencies, maintaining plant uptime, implementing system enhancements, troubleshooting process issues, and evaluating cost implications.

This position supports multiple locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, present, and oversee capital project requests and economic justifications for site leadership.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for operational enhancements, collaborating with a team of engineers to initiate and execute continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives across facilities.
  • Conduct data analysis of process metrics, formulate action plans, and identify optimization requirements.
  • Assist in planning and executing facility shutdowns.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills in collaboration with the facility's leadership and engineering teams to address operational and troubleshooting challenges.
  • Acquire advanced knowledge in specific unit operations, becoming a Subject Matter Expert for process-related inquiries.
  • Support the Management of Change and Process Safety Management documentation for the facility.
  • Contribute to the development of annual strategic initiatives for the site.
  • Create and utilize historical database reports.
  • Draft and coordinate operational procedures, ensuring effective communication with team members.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental communication.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental compliance at all times.
  • Maintain a collaborative team environment and represent POET positively in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering; other engineering disciplines may be considered.
  • Experience in an operational processing plant environment, such as grain or chemical processing, is advantageous.
  • Prior leadership and project management experience will be highly valued.
  • Familiarity with DCS control and historian systems is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations is a plus.
  • Recognized for exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills, with a positive attitude towards change.
  • Ability to comprehend technical details and daily operations of a bioprocessing facility.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a willingness to learn new software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
