Job Objective: To provide assistance to the bus operator in the secure and efficient transportation of students with special needs.

Reports To: Transportation Supervisor

Supervises: N/A

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate the safe boarding and disembarking of students.
  2. Implement safety protocols for student conduct.
  3. Observe and manage student behavior during transit.
  4. Accompany and support students as needed from their residence to the school bus.
  5. Address the unique requirements of each student as necessary.
  6. Assist the bus operator in maintaining cleanliness and readiness of the vehicle.
  7. Familiarize oneself with the individual physical and emotional needs of special education students, if applicable.
  8. Ensure that all students are properly secured using seatbelts, harnesses, or wheelchairs as required.
  9. Confirm that all additional equipment is secured to prevent movement during transit.
  10. Support the bus operator in executing emergency evacuation protocols when required.
  11. Engage with students and guardians to understand the specific needs of riders.
  12. Adhere to all regulations and policies regarding the transportation of students with special needs.
  13. Maintain confidentiality concerning school and workplace matters.
  14. Exemplify and uphold high ethical standards.
  15. Demonstrate proactive behavior in fulfilling assigned duties.
  16. Respond promptly to inquiries and concerns.
  17. Execute all responsibilities in alignment with the objectives of this role.
