Job Summary

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technologist to join our team at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). As a key member of our Facilities Section, you will be responsible for performing facility maintenance functions at a high skill level, including troubleshooting HVAC concerns, routine plumbing, electrical, and custodial operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform facility maintenance functions at a high skill level, including but not limited to troubleshooting HVAC concerns, routine plumbing, electrical, and custodial operations.
  • Movement, assembly and installation of furniture, modular partitions, equipment, or machinery.
  • Framing, dry wall, general carpentry and painting skills for repairs or minor building modification projects.
  • Assist the Section Supervisor by providing technical direction and guidance to other members of the Facility Section on technical job details and building code requirements.
  • Assist with preparing purchase orders, scheduling, escorting, and supervision of any sub-contractors needed to assist with routine maintenance or repair activity tasks.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 5 years' progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 7 years' progressive related experience.
  • Knowledge of regulatory code requirements in electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related building codes.
  • Demonstrated skills in carpentry, metal fabrication, HVAC troubleshooting and repair, plumbing, electrical and painting. A strong electrical background required.
  • Must be a team player and work well with others.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner.
  • Must possess good oral communication skills.
  • Must be skilled in personal computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, and Visio or similar software.
  • Must be able to effectively deal with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
Working Conditions

The primary work location will be at the Special Technologies Laboratory (STL) located in Santa Barbara, CA. Flexible work schedule can be negotiated with the manager; employees can work 5/8's, 9/80's or 4/10's work-weeks.

Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Must possess a valid driver's license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.

Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance.

Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, "Personnel Security". If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

The hourly salary range for this position is $51.52. Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
