Job Overview and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Captain, Office of Correctional Safety (OCS), the Tactical Response Coordinator, serving as a Correctional Lieutenant, will demonstrate autonomy and initiative in executing a range of intricate and sensitive tasks associated with the management, development, and training for the Alarm Response (Riot Control) program within the department. This role necessitates comprehensive knowledge of required training topics, effective communication and training methodologies, as well as institutional security and operational protocols.
The individual will coordinate and/or engage in assignments pertinent to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) security, OCS field assistance, and collaborative law enforcement emergency operations. Additionally, the role involves executing complex staff assignments related to specialized departmental operations. Travel may be necessary.
Additional Information
The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has adopted a new automated system aimed at enhancing the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is a user-friendly platform that grants applicants access to real-time updates throughout the hiring journey. New candidates will be required to create an account, allowing them to monitor their application's status and provide any supplementary information necessary for the hiring process, including scheduling interviews as required.

Confidential information to be excluded includes, but is not limited to, Social Security Number (SSN), birth date, student identification number, driver's license number (unless mandated), eligibility basis, examination results, marital status, and age.
Minimum Qualifications
Verification of Minimum Qualifications (MQ) will occur prior to the interview and/or appointment. If meeting MQ through education, unofficial transcripts/diploma must be included for verification. Official transcripts may be requested upon appointment. If it is determined that an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, they will be removed from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible for hire. Candidates withheld may appeal to the State Personnel Board.
Special Requirements
Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice must undergo a background investigation process, including Live Scan fingerprinting and Tuberculosis testing, prior to appointment, followed by annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
