We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist/Laboratory Technician to join our team at STGi's Community Based Outpatient Clinic. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing phlebotomy services and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of our clinic.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and finger-stick and heel-stick procedures, using proper techniques and equipment.
- Conduct patient in-processing, including reviewing paperwork and providing guidance and assistance as needed.
- Assemble and prepare equipment for phlebotomy procedures, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available.
- Verify patient identity and record vital signs, as well as draw and test blood samples to screen donors.
- Provide technical oversight and training to ensure that all invasive procedures are performed safely and efficiently.
- Perform administrative and clerical tasks, including documenting samples and maintaining supply inventory.
- Provide instruction on patient-centered specimen collection and special requirements for laboratory-collected specimens.
- Demonstrate knowledge of phlebotomy and collection of clinical specimens, as well as age-specific techniques for infants and the elderly.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide assistance as needed.
- Minimum of two (2) years of current clinical experience working in a similar environment as a phlebotomist.
- Current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (PBT-ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (RPT-AMT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Exceptional diplomatic communication skills and experience in handling difficult customer situations.
- Detailed-oriented and able to multi-task.
- Moderate physical activity, including handling average-weight objects and standing/walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Required to respond to medical emergencies within the clinic.
