Job Summary:

STGi is seeking a Phlebotomist/Laboratory Technician to provide phlebotomy services and administrative support at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and finger-stick procedures, using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Conduct patient in-processing, review paperwork, and provide guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Assemble equipment and supplies for phlebotomy procedures.
  • Verify patient identity and record vital signs and medical information.
  • Provide technical oversight and training to ensure safe and sanitary phlebotomy procedures.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks, including documentation and supply management.
  • Provide instruction on patient-centered specimen collection and special requirements for laboratory-collected specimens.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of phlebotomy and specimen collection procedures, including age-specific techniques.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide assistance as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of current clinical experience working in a similar environment as a phlebotomist.
  • Current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (PBT-ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (RPT-AMT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and patient reactions.
  • Exceptional diplomatic communication skills and experience in handling difficult customer situations.
  • Detailed-oriented and able to multi-task.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate physical activity, including handling average-weight objects and standing/walking for more than four hours per day.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Required to respond to medical emergencies within the clinic.
