Key Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor:

  • Accountable to the Operations Leader for departmental performance in quality, cost, delivery, safety, environmental standards, and policy enforcement.
  • Assist in planning and managing departmental objectives and metrics.
  • Provide leadership to operations associates and support Shift Supervisors to ensure departmental success.
  • Ensure associates and Shift Supervisors have the necessary resources and training to meet departmental objectives.
  • Conduct coaching sessions aimed at enhancing associate and Shift Supervisor performance.
  • Acknowledge departmental and individual achievements.
  • Guide operations leadership and associates through conflict resolution processes and mediate conflicts as necessary. Address grievances and escalate higher-level disciplinary matters as appropriate.
  • Offer resources, guidance, and technical support to teams for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate external support as necessary to achieve departmental objectives and metrics.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely payroll data for the department, including leave/vacation approvals.
  • Schedule, plan, and prioritize production runs.
  • Identify and resolve production issues.
  • Document and issue disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy in consultation with Human Resources.
  • Conduct interviews and staff the area as needed.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to hourly personnel through annual performance evaluations or as required.
  • Track training for the respective area using the training matrix.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Management to address quality or downtime issues.
  • Enter production and scrap data into JD Edwards or other databases as required.
  • Perform additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned by the Manufacturing Manager or Operations Leader.

Qualifications and Requirements for the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor:

  • Associate Degree and/or 5 years of leadership experience in a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in leadership, goal setting, and managing disciplinary issues and policy enforcement.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to frequently stand, move, kneel, bend, or sit at a workstation for extended periods.
  • Capability to push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs.
