Job Summary:

As an Electrical Superintendent with Cherne Contracting, you will oversee all aspects of electrical installation on large-scale oil, gas, chemical, and industrial EPC construction projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing daily inspections of work for Safety, Quality, and Productivity
  • Ensuring proper planning and communication for all operations
  • Identifying and solving problems that arise
  • Establishing budgetary guidelines and ensuring cost control measures are followed
  • Providing job safety training and awareness for all personnel
  • Establishing quality standards and ensuring all quality assurance and company standards are met
  • Developing and managing job schedules, coordinating work with other crafts, departments, contractors, and suppliers

Responsibilities:

Manage and direct project teams by providing communication, coordination, and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives. Ensure project scope, work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood. Manage and oversee the output from the engineering, constructability, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams from detail design through commission and start-up. Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for all engineering work. Determine and oversee all project controls, schedules, and budgets. Serve as project representative with client, constructor, subcontractors, and vendors at kick-off meetings, job walks, project review, and other meetings and correspondence. Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed. Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget, and/or schedule. Maintain ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client needs within contractual obligations, or adjust project deliverables to meet client and Kiewit needs. Ensure all work products are consistent with industry standards and in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes, and in compliance with all pertinent legal codes and requirements. Provide ongoing training and mentoring to entry and mid-level engineers to promote employee development.

Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in the Electrical construction industry, with at least 5+ years in a supervisory role. Direct project oversight on EPC related projects where the work was self-performed by your current employer at the time. Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings, and other documents. Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance. Must be willing to relocate and/or travel. Must be able to read and interpret drawings, plans, specifications, and have a fluent understanding of the NEC.

Other Requirements:

Regular, reliable attendance. Work productively and meet deadlines timely. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
