Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer

As a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer, you'll play a critical role in helping us achieve this mission by designing, implementing, and managing VMware Horizon View VDI environments. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the optimal performance of our VDI infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with stakeholders to deploy virtual desktops and apps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement VMware Horizon View VDI environments to meet the needs of our end-users
  • Administer VDI pools and address VDI-related issues promptly to ensure seamless user experience
  • Monitor VDI infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal system performance
  • Manage Wyse and Teradici thin clients, including firmware updates, to ensure they're running smoothly
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deploy virtual desktops and apps, ensuring they meet the required standards
  • Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades on a regular basis to maintain the integrity of our VDI environment
  • Develop and implement VDI best practices and security protocols to protect our users' data
  • Create and maintain documentation for VDI configurations, policies, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and consistency
  • Participate in capacity planning and scalability assessments to ensure our VDI environment can accommodate growing business needs
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to VDI and virtualization to ensure we're always at the forefront of innovation

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in VMware VDI administration
  • Proficiency in VMware Horizon View and related VDI technologies
  • Proven understanding of virtualization concepts and best practices
  • Experience with Windows operating systems and Active Directory
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work onsite at our Walnut Creek Medical Center, CA as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VMware VCP-DTM certification
  • Proven knowledge of storage and networking solutions, including SAN/NAS technologies
