Job Title:

Physician Assistant Neurosurgery

Job Summary:

The Physician Assistant shall provide comprehensive management of our Neurosurgery & Spine Surgery patients according to privileges approved by the Medical Staff Office and established clinical protocols in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.

The Physician Assistant has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician and provides first assist of the surgeon in the operating room.

The Physician Assistant manages and provides patient care activities for a group of palliative patients and their families through the application of independent judgement, communication and collaboration with all team members.

The Physician Assistant establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

The APP shall work under the supervision of a physician.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive management of Neurosurgery & Spine Surgery patients
  • Provide first assist of the surgeon in the operating room
  • Manage and provide patient care activities for a group of palliative patients and their families
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accreditation review commission on the Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved Physician Assistant training program
  • Current license or ability to be licensed as a Physician Assistant by the WV Board of Medicine with a certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Active, unrestricted WV DEA license
  • Must be credentialed according to Mon Health Medical Center's Medical Staff By-laws and appointed as Allied Health Professional Affiliate Staff
  • Must possess or obtain basic life support (BLS) certification within the probationary period and maintain certification
  • Must possess or obtain advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) within one year of employment start and maintain certification
