We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Highmark Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in providing quality clinical information to support patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens in various sections of the laboratory under supervision.
- Operate, calibrate, check, and maintain instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Recognize problems with quality control and test procedures and take appropriate action to ensure quality clinical information.
- Participate in programs to stay updated with current and changing technologies.
- May collect and process patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations.
- May mentor MT/MLT, phlebotomy, and lab processor students and new employees in laboratory testing.
- Associates degree in ASCP eligible program or equivalent.
- Meet ongoing education requirements for certification.
- Clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
