The City of Topeka is seeking two qualified professionals to serve as Mechanical Inspectors in its Development Services division. This position is responsible for inspecting residential and commercial construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect residential and light commercial construction for compliance to all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Follow up on inspections and violations to secure compliance.
  • Investigate complaints, prepare related reports, letters and violation notices, and follow through until compliance has been attained.
  • Work with individuals to resolve concerns, problems and violations related to mechanical inspections.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Journeyman certification is required.
  • Mechanical Inspector I must obtain mechanical inspector certification within 18 months of hire date.
  • The Mechanical Inspector II level must be certified as a mechanical inspector.
