Job Summary

The Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist is a key member of the Respiratory Care team at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and effective communication to provide exceptional patient care and support to the team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical guidance and oversight to respiratory therapists in the Sleep Disorders Section.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with sleep-disordered breathing conditions.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Conduct patient assessments, including vital sign measurements and respiratory rate and pattern evaluations.
  • Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, including CPAP and Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure (BPAP) therapies.
  • Provide education and training to patients and families on respiratory care and equipment use.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Current RRT credential and licensure in the state of Michigan.
  • At least one year of experience as a respiratory therapist in a sleep disorders setting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of respiratory care principles and practices.
