Position Overview
As a Wound Care Registered Nurse, you will be an essential part of our inter-professional teams dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. We are setting a new benchmark for healthcare excellence.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of recent Registered Nursing experience.
- Completion of an accredited Wound Ostomy Care Nursing Education program.
- Certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
Work Schedule
This position involves working four 10-hour shifts per week, with no weekends or holidays, as Emory Healthcare observes nine holidays annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead agency-wide initiatives focused on pressure ulcer prevention, wound management, and ostomy care.
- Support data collection on pressure ulcer prevalence and develop evidence-based policies and protocols.
- Provide advanced clinical guidance to healthcare professionals regarding complex wound management.
- Design and implement educational programs for Emory Healthcare staff and students in the Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
- Assess patient needs and recommend appropriate nursing interventions for wound and ostomy care.
- Develop comprehensive post-operative education and care plans for patients and their families.
Essential Skills
- Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
- Preferred experience in Wound and Ostomy care.
- ACLS certification may be required for certain units.
Physical Demands
This role may involve lifting weights between 11-25 lbs frequently and 1-10 lbs constantly. You will be required to stand, walk, and perform close eye work, with physical demands varying based on assigned tasks.
Work Environment
As a Wound Care Registered Nurse, you may encounter various environmental conditions, including exposure to biohazardous materials, chemicals, and communicable diseases. Use of personal protective equipment is essential.
