Demolition Laborer

We are seeking a skilled Demolition Laborer to join our team at Veit & Company Inc. As a Demolition Laborer, you will be responsible for performing tasks involving physical labor at construction project sites.

• Operate hand and power tools of all types, including torching equipment, rigging equipment, air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and other equipment and instruments.
• Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, assemble and disassemble scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris, and other waste materials.
• Assist other craft workers and perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.
• Control high-pressure water hoses during demolition and loading, and assist operators with equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Accurately fill out reports and turn in daily logs, and adhere to all customer site-specific safety requirements.
• Participate in regular training for construction methods and safety, and ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Maintain a clean job site at all times, and secure all materials, tools, and equipment each day to eliminate potential hazards.

• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings (plans/blueprints).
• Ability to read and comprehend grade stakes, and calculate grades.
• Experience setting up and utilizing a pipe laser, and using an eye-level (transit).
• Knowledge and ability to work with equipment, materials, and supplies found in construction work.
• Ability to follow proper use and safety guidelines at all times.
• Ability to view and understand Veit's safety training video.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual work, and communicate orally and in writing with coworkers, vendors, and other business associates.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Good interpersonal skills, and ability to work with mathematical concepts.
• Punctuality and dependability are required.

• Six to twelve months of demolition experience.
• Crane signaling and rigging certifications.
• Knowledge and ability to work with equipment, materials, and supplies found in construction work.
• OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety procedures, and ability to follow applicable safety precautions.
