Job Summary:
The Senior Manager of Planning Project is responsible for providing strategic planning expertise to guide and support comprehensive project planning efforts. This role involves contributing to the development of planning strategies, designs, and standards that influence a wide range of campus projects. The ideal candidate will have over five years of professional experience in the planning sector, ideally in a role that involves acting as an owner's representative within an institutional context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage project planning and feasibility assessments to create capital projects by defining project scope, timelines, and budgets for multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Lead client-facing efforts during the programming and conceptual design stages of projects.
- Interpret and enforce planning standards, principles, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct research, gather and analyze data, identify key issues, and develop prioritization criteria to propose actionable strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, memoranda, and presentation materials.
- Deliver presentations to both internal and external stakeholders, utilizing various communication tools such as text, tables, graphics, and databases.
- Coordinate planning projects by managing cross-departmental teams.
- Monitor community development and regional planning issues and events.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure projects are holistically planned.
- Integrate campus objectives into district-wide and campus-specific master planning efforts.
- Forecast and schedule multiple complex projects to optimize execution.
- Stay informed about the latest trends in educational space design and planning.
- Facilitate learning sessions for staff to enhance knowledge in relevant areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building codes, materials, and design guidelines.
- Participate in committees and task forces as needed.
- Represent the department at various events.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise in planning, architecture, engineering, and construction management.
- Strong understanding of project planning and management principles.
- Experience in budget and schedule development.
- Knowledge of regulations regarding accessibility and hazardous materials.
- Familiarity with laws and ordinances governing design and construction.

Experience and Education Requirements:
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience in project and program planning for capital projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Architecture, or Engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eight years of related experience in project and program planning.
- Master's degree in Planning, Architecture, or Engineering.
- Project Management certification such as PMP, CEFP, CCM, or similar.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is typically performed in an office environment.
- May require standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
- Travel to various sites may be necessary.
- Some physical exertion may be required for site navigation.

Salary Range:
$85,239 - $106,548
