Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building Plans Examiner to join our team at Teton County. As a key member of our Planning and Building Services Department, you will be responsible for reviewing and inspecting building plans to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough reviews of building plans and specifications to verify compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Inspect buildings and sites to ensure compliance with construction codes and regulations.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to architects, engineers, and contractors on building code requirements and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other County departments to ensure seamless plan review and approval processes.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, providing information on departmental services, programs, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Building Inspection Technology, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or Civil Engineering.
  • Five years of experience in building inspection, building code enforcement, or plan review programs.
  • International Code Council (ICC) Plans Examiner certification required within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Building Inspection Technology, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or Civil Engineering.
  • Additional certifications for Residential and Commercial Plumbing, Mechanical, and Energy codes.
Working Conditions

This position is performed in a standard office environment with occasional trips to building sites. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
