Job Overview

As a key member of the American Academy of Pediatrics leadership team, the VP, Human Resources and Operations Director will play a critical role in driving the organization's strategic initiatives and advancing its mission. This senior-level position will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive HR and facilities strategies, ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the AAP's commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic HR plan that aligns with the AAP's mission, values, and goals, focusing on talent acquisition, retention, and development.
• Provide leadership and oversight for facilities operations, ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive work environment that meets the needs of staff, members, and guests.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to advance the AAP's EDI initiatives, promoting inclusion and equity within the workplace and across the organization.
• Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective management of resources and compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
• Foster a positive organizational culture that supports employee engagement, development, and productivity, providing strategic oversight and guidance of engagement surveys for leaders.
• Supervise and mentor staff, promoting a work environment that emphasizes service excellence, raises employee engagement, and optimizes productivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in human resources or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of progressive HR leadership work experience, with a proven track record in leading change and driving meaningful impact.
• Experience supervising staff and managing budgets, with a strong understanding of HR-related laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent written/verbal communications, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with leaders, staff at all levels, and external partners.
• Ability to resolve conflicts in a fair and impartial manner, with a demonstrated willingness to embrace innovative ideas and approaches.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters degree or SPHR, SHRM-CP certification.
• Experience in non-profit management, with a strong understanding of the AAP's mission, values, and strategic goals.
