The SARA High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is in search of a highly skilled, driven, and innovative Test Technician to bolster the Production Engineering Department's initiatives aimed at transitioning cutting-edge technologies to various governmental entities and their contractors. This role is situated within the Quality Department, which comprises fellow test technicians, quality inspectors, quality engineers, and inventory control specialists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute tests on assembled products to confirm their functionality and quality standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of testing activities, data, and various tracking metrics.
  • Assemble products while adhering to ESD controls.
  • Facilitate the training of QA-focused instructions and workflows.
  • Report any defects or discrepancies to the quality supervisor for further analysis.
  • Interpret and understand engineering schematics.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancements by developing and refining quality processes and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Regularly maintain, clean, and organize the testing area.
  • Minimize clutter in workspaces.
  • Perform housekeeping duties around work areas.
  • Ensure tools are kept clean and stored in designated locations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficient in quality inspection methodologies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to accurately follow instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Capability to operate various measurement and calibration tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
  • Flexibility for 1st and 2nd shifts.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Machinists, Engineering, Project Management, and Clients with minimal guidance.
  • Self-motivated individual.
  • Willingness to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Operate with minimal supervision.
  • Moderate physical exertion required, including standing, sitting, and manual handling of components weighing approximately 30-50 pounds.
  • Indoor working environment that is moderately loud, reasonably clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated, with potential moderate physical hazards.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and ISO 9001 processes in a production context.
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly setting.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and testing apparatus.
  • Experience with QA/QC measurement instruments.
  • Certifications as a Quality Inspector (CQI) and/or Six Sigma Green Belt through ASQ.
  • Experience in the Aerospace and/or Defense sectors.
