Position Overview: Founding Inclusive Education Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing Bloom Academy's Inclusive Education Program, including organizing IEP meetings, ARD meetings, and administering assessments.
  • Deliver rigorous intervention lessons designed to support and advance the learning of students with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement challenging, differentiated lessons aligned with TEKS that cater to the needs of students in Bloom's inclusive education program.
  • Take ownership of addressing any existing academic gaps for all students.
  • Help create and sustain inclusive classroom environments that uphold high expectations and foster character development for every child.
  • Monitor and gather student data, utilizing this information to inform instructional practices that support children with IEPs and 504 plans.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to strategize for student success and progress.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their understanding of special education compliance and evidence-based practices.
  • Engage in staff training and work collaboratively with colleagues to plan lessons, assess student performance, and analyze academic data.
  • Participate in coaching sessions aimed at developing and refining teaching practices.
  • Establish and maintain clear academic and behavioral expectations for all scholars.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Valid Texas Special Education Teaching Certification is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a special education teacher in an urban setting is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal and state regulations, laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of special education state and federal rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Deep alignment with the school's mission and core values.
  • A firm belief that all students, regardless of race or socio-economic background, can achieve high levels of success and contribute positively to their communities.
  • Successful completion of a background check in accordance with state law.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships with all school stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
