Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of a healthcare provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider).
- Support treatment plans as directed by the provider or registered nurse, performing designated clinical tasks.
- Conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs, and document information in patient records.
- Prepare examination rooms for patient assessments.
- Execute basic administrative tasks such as answering calls, maintaining records, and organizing files.
- Manage materials by ordering and stocking supplies, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Document provider-patient interactions accurately, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as directed.
- Transcribe orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
Qualifications
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer. Accepted from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
One or more of the following certifications required:
- Medical Assistant credential from the National Healthcareer Association (within 6 months of hire or transfer).
- Medical Assistant credential from the National Association for Health Professionals (within 6 months of hire or transfer).
- Medical Assistant credential from the National Center for Competency Testing (within 6 months of hire or transfer).
- Medical Assistant credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants (within 6 months of hire or transfer).
- Medical Assistant credential from the American Medical Technologists (within 6 months of hire or transfer).
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent, or 1 year of relevant cumulative job-specific experience required.
Additional Preferences:
- Current CMA certification.
- Experience in pediatrics is preferred.
