Definition

Are you someone who enjoys organizing and enhancing community resources? As a Library Page, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that library materials are accessible to patrons while providing excellent customer service. This position entails a commitment of 20 hours per week with a consistent schedule across multiple library locations. Dates may change due to unforeseen circumstances. Candidates who pass each phase of the recruitment process will be notified of the official examination dates.
Under direct supervision, you will accurately shelve and locate library materials, deliver items using library vehicles, rearrange furniture for events, and perform related tasks as needed.
Essential Functions

- Efficiently shelve library materials and check in items from both the library and external book drops.
- Locate and process items on hold for patrons.
- Set up and rearrange tables, chairs, and equipment for various programs and meetings.
- Provide support at service desks as needed.
- Deliver books and materials to different library branches.
- Participate in committee work as required.
- Operate vehicles for city-related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Employment Standards:

- Knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Skill in interacting and communicating effectively with a diverse population.
- Proficiency in using modern computers and related software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow directions.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and the public.
- Ability to work independently and pay attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that includes weekends and evenings.

Education/Training: High school graduation or equivalent.
Special Conditions & Requirements: The physical ability to perform essential functions of the classification, including lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds, bending, standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and reaching above shoulder height.

License & Certificates: A valid California Class "C" driver's license or equivalent at the time of appointment. All required licenses and certificates must be maintained throughout employment in this classification.
