Roadway Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer to join our team at the Virginia Department of Transportation. As a key member of our Richmond District Location & Design team, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and producing right of way and construction plans for various transportation projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage project design schedules and conduct project scoping and cost estimates
- Coordinate with other divisions to ensure project segments remain on schedule
- Complete roadway designs using MicroStation, GeoPak/OpenRoads, and 3D software
- Provide technical direction and support to Project Leads and perform quality control checks throughout the design process
- Communicate with stakeholders and external customers
- Knowledge of principles of roadway safety and design standards
- Experience in roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards, specifications, and materials
- Experience applying design standards, specifications, policies, and procedures
- Ability to plan and schedule work and deliver exemplary customer service
- Experience in roadway design and project management for transportation projects
- Experience using OpenRoads or other 3D roadway design software
