Job Summary

The County of Los Angeles is seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team. As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for performing intra-oral examinations, administering dental prophylaxes, and providing instruction in proper nutrition and oral hygiene.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform examinations for visual and radiographic indications of needed dental work, referring patients to dentists as necessary.
  • Administer dental prophylaxes, including ultrasonic, hand, and gross scaling, and polishing of teeth.
  • Instruct patients and parents on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and plaque control.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and provide technical direction to dental hygiene students.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Requirements
  • California license to practice as a dental hygienist.
  • Radiation Safety License issued by the Dental Board of California or a certificate of compliance from an approved Board course in radiation safety.
  • Graduation from an approved dental hygienist school, accredited by the American Dental Association.
  • Valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in leading dental personnel.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting, with frequent exposure to radiation and chemicals. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
