Job Summary:

The County of Los Angeles is seeking a skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team. As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for performing intra-oral examinations, administering dental prophylaxes, and providing instruction in proper nutrition and oral hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform visual and radiographic examinations to identify indications of needed dental work
Administer dental prophylaxes, including ultrasonic, hand, and gross scaling, and polishing of teeth
Instruct patients and parents on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and plaque control
Maintain accurate patient records and provide technical direction to dental hygiene students
Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow at assigned dental clinics

Requirements:

California license to practice as a dental hygienist
Radiation Safety License issued by the Dental Board of California or certificate of compliance from an approved Board course in radiation safety
Graduation from an approved dental hygienist school accredited by the American Dental Association
Valid California Class C Driver License or ability to utilize alternative transportation methods

Working Conditions:

Work in a fast-paced dental clinic environment with frequent exposure to blood and bodily fluids
May be required to work varying shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
