Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Cook County Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document patient medical history, vital signs, and other relevant information.
  • Prepare patient rooms for medical visits and maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records.
  • Perform various laboratory procedures, including blood draws, EKGs, and urinalyses.
  • Assist physicians with physical exams, minor surgical procedures, and treatments.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians.
  • Provide first aid and other related procedures as needed.
  • Support the provider staff with completing referrals for diagnostic testing and specialist care.
  • Receive, organize, and stock clinical supplies.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Medical Assisting or equivalent from an accredited program.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant through a recognized organization.
  • Current CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (testing may be administered).
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of full-time work experience as a CMA or in a related clinical capacity.
Working Conditions

This position exists in a medical office work environment and requires frequent exposure to various hazards of patient care.
