Insurance Defense Attorney

The Insurance Defense Attorney will play a critical role in upholding and protecting policyholders' rights, working to positively impact our business. We're seeking an experienced litigation attorney who can manage the entire legal process, from investigation and discovery through trial prep and court proceedings. You'll represent clients in depositions, site inspections, court hearings, trials, and negotiate settlements as required. As a strategic partner, you'll research applicable laws and develop legal strategies for all stages of litigation, sharing them with claims representatives and insured clients. You'll also establish and maintain good relationships with claims representatives and insured clients, occasionally conducting training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments. Effective communication is key, as you'll develop and render clear, unambiguous legal opinions and strategies, and draft legal documents, including pleadings and motions. As a collaborative mentor, you'll provide guidance and direction to junior attorneys, paralegals, or law clerks, while also interacting with Home Office Legal.
Requirements
We're looking for a candidate with a minimum of three years of successful experience conducting discovery, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials. Experience representing insurance companies is also essential. You'll need to be skilled in cultivating strong working relationships with internal and external partners, possess aptitude for detailed, analytical thinking, and have a process-oriented mindset with proven ability to meet deadlines and stay organized. Persuasive oral and written communication skills are also crucial. You'll need to have knowledge of insurance law, familiarity with the latest developments in the practice of law, and proficiency with technologies that reduce costs and facilitate the practice of law and remote work. A JD degree is required.
