OBJECTIVE:

Act as a specialist in leveraging food and nutrition to enhance well-being and address health issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Evaluate dietary requirements, food limitations, and existing health strategies to formulate and execute nutritional care plans and offer dietary guidance.
  • Authorize patient meal plans and nutritional products.
  • Guide patients and their families on nutritional guidelines, meal strategies, dietary adjustments, and food choices and preparation methods.
  • Conduct nutritional evaluations in accordance with facility policies and regulations.
  • Review and endorse menus created by the establishment.
  • Educate individuals and groups on fundamental nutrition principles, healthy eating practices, and nutrition tracking to enhance their quality of life.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals and healthcare staff to assess nutritional requirements and dietary restrictions of patients.
  • Engage in treatment teams as necessary.
  • Annually review and approve the facility's dietary manual in partnership with medical personnel.
  • Advocate for improved health by addressing groups on nutrition, dietary practices, and the connection between healthy eating and the prevention or management of specific health conditions.
  • Oversee food service operations to ensure compliance with nutritional, safety, sanitation, and quality standards as required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Carry out other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field recognized for licensure.
  • Experience with Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse is highly preferred in settings serving those patient demographics.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
  • Current registration as a dietitian or licensure as mandated by the state or eligibility for endorsement by the state where services are provided.
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification as required by state or facility regulations.
