Ashland Global Specialty Chemicals, Inc. - Environmental Specialist

Ashland Global Specialty Chemicals, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Specialist to join our team at our Hopewell, VA facility. As an Environmental Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our environmental programs and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes, including OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, RC 14001, RCRA, and Ashland Corporate Standards.
  • Responsible for review of Management of Change for Environmental related items.
  • Support environmental compliance audits and inspections.
  • Responds to environmental issues as needed.
  • Responsible for facility's hazardous and non-hazardous waste program.
  • Generates reports for federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Participate, coordinate, or lead Root Cause Analysis investigations.
  • Assist in writing/revising Plant Environmental procedures.
  • Assists with supporting Sustainability goals for the site.
  • Participates in Quality, Safety, and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or another relevant/technical field.
  • 5+ years of work experience in environmental programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, and attention to detail.
  • Proven data analysis and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Understanding of local, federal environmental policies.
  • Familiarity with RCRA regulations.
  • Experience in participating in regulatory inspections or audits.
