Job Overview:

As a pivotal member of our team, you will take charge of architecting, implementing, and overseeing the public cloud infrastructure on the Azure platform. Your role will be essential in empowering various business units to enhance their cloud capabilities progressively. You will focus on developing and executing cloud-native solutions that facilitate growth and adaptability. This position requires extensive collaboration with business stakeholders to promote cloud adoption and integration.

Key Responsibilities:

Enablement:

  • Engage regularly with business units, fellow architects, and Azure teams to comprehend their needs, providing both tactical and strategic insights.
  • Document and disseminate cloud knowledge among all relevant parties.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Azure services.
  • Coordinate platform delivery and manage dependencies across various business teams.

Security:

  • Establish security protocols in accordance with established policies and benchmarks.
  • Provide stakeholders with clear visibility into compliance with security measures.
  • Implement a least-privilege access model for the public cloud environment.

Reliability:

  • Deploy real-time network monitoring and alert systems.
  • Facilitate centralized logging for the cloud infrastructure.

Cost Management:

  • Ensure accurate reconciliation and allocation of all monthly public cloud expenditures.
  • Enhance transparency regarding cloud costs.
  • Collaborate with business teams to identify and achieve cost-saving opportunities.

Performance Optimization:

  • Deliver cloud services globally within minutes.
  • Advocate for cloud-native serverless architectures.
  • Continuously minimize technical debt by upgrading to supported technology versions.

Operational Excellence:

  • Automate the cloud platform and all changes initiated by the cloud team as code.
  • Regularly refine operational procedures (e.g., conduct game days).
  • Drive improvements based on insights gained from operational events and failures.

Required Technical Skills:

Cloud Landing Zone:

  • Proven experience in designing, building, and automating Azure landing zones.
  • Expertise in FinOps practices, including resource tagging and cloud financial management.
  • Strong understanding of diverse cloud application architectures.

Cloud Security Engineering:

  • Implement advanced security and compliance controls (CIS Azure Foundations, Azure Security Center, Azure Policy).
  • Expertise in designing Azure policies for comprehensive governance of security, compliance, cost, and operations.

Cloud Network Engineering:

  • Experience with Azure hub-and-spoke network architectures.
  • Familiarity with VNET Hub/VWAN and Virtual Network Gateways for ExpressRoute and VPNs.
  • Knowledge of DNS zone management and configuration of DNS resolvers.

Cloud Automation:

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) projects.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines or similar tools for platform automation.
  • Development experience in at least one of the following languages: Python, JavaScript, or Java.
  • Experience in developing Azure Functions and integrating with REST APIs for workflow automation.

Additional Certifications and Qualifications:

  • Azure Expert-level certifications.
  • HashiCorp Terraform knowledge is a plus.
  • Relevant experience with Azure hyperscaler technology.
  • Extensive background in the IT industry.
  • Experience in designing integrated solutions involving processes, data, and technology.
  • Proficient in creating architectural diagrams.
  • Strong technical leadership capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Lean Agile principles and SDLC processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of connecting with various stakeholders across multiple locations.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
