Position: Azure Solutions Architect

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Role Summary:

The Azure Solutions Architect is tasked with ensuring the stability, integrity, and governance of cloud infrastructure resources that underpin essential organizational functions. This role involves not only the deployment and management of new resources but also the application of strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address challenges and enhance the value of IT investments. Additionally, this position includes mentoring and guiding other IT personnel, including service desk staff, all while maintaining a cybersecurity-first approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive solutions utilizing Azure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute disaster recovery plans.
  • Automate tasks and modifications using Terraform and Azure Resource Manager, particularly for Azure Virtual Desktop administration.
  • Configure Azure SQL backups and conduct routine validations.
  • Support internal and external audit requests, including the development of automation for recurring tasks.
  • Manage resource tagging, inventory, and billing.
  • Oversee resource-specific networking and access management.
  • Provision database resources along with related replication and high availability setups.
  • Act as the primary escalation resource for Azure infrastructure services across all IT teams.
  • Manage patching for Windows Servers and AVD-hosted virtual machines.
  • Conduct impact analyses for feature implementations and upgrades.
  • Perform regular internal audits of the Azure environment.
  • Maintain standards for Azure resource configuration and deployment.
  • Troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues related to cloud resources as necessary.
  • Implement and uphold Azure resource threat detection measures.
  • Comprehend the overarching security model and its components to ensure comprehensive cyber protection.
  • Design cloud solutions that minimize attack surfaces.
  • Recommend and enforce policies that do not disrupt organizational workflows.
  • Proactively monitor, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity incidents, including intrusion detection and unauthorized access.
  • Provide support for mitigation when systems are misused, whether by external threats or internal misuse.
  • Assist in forensic investigations as needed by the Cybersecurity Team.

Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in relevant technology roles.
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting a production Microsoft Azure environment in a mid-market enterprise or larger.
  • Possession of at least one active L2 or higher Microsoft certification relevant to the role.
  • All Microsoft certifications, including expired ones, should be disclosed.
  • Encouraged to report all other relevant technical and non-technical certifications.
  • Ability to design, implement, and maintain complex Azure solutions.
  • Serve as the technical lead and owner of technical deal strategies.
  • Collaborate with various teams to identify and address customer business objectives and challenges.
  • Basic competency with Azure CLI and PowerShell.
  • Experience with Azure storage accounts, networking, logging, monitoring, and automation.
  • Basic knowledge of Git for script management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Entra.
  • Ability to manage multiple subscriptions across various teams.
  • Basic competency in leveraging Managed Identities for securing Azure resources.
  • Strong expertise in cloud-centric enterprise architecture, particularly Azure, with a proven track record of integrating new cloud operations with traditional infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of IT services and cybersecurity practices to safeguard systems, data, and resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and upgrading complex environments that blend legacy and modern cloud technologies.
  • Experience with P2V/V2V migration in Azure.
  • Familiarity with SOC-related requests and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in technical documentation and diagramming.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, routing, and subnetting.
  • Working knowledge of the Azure service catalog.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies is a plus.
  • Ability to create detailed infrastructure diagrams and data flow visuals.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal oversight.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
