We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Administrator to join our team at the College of Education. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will provide critical support to the Department Chair and faculty, ensuring the smooth operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and management to the department, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and evaluation of day-to-day operations.
- Develop and implement administrative procedures to enhance efficiency and achieve departmental goals.
- Lead enrollment management and academic planning initiatives, collaborating with the Chair and Program Directors to ensure coordinated and effective curriculum offerings.
- Manage departmental budgets, approving routine expenditures and providing counsel to the Chair on budgetary planning.
- Allocate resources to meet curricular demands, managing teaching assignments for part-time faculty, lecturers, and tenured system faculty.
- Lead strategic projects as identified by the Department Chair, faculty, and/or AQAD processes.
- Develop effective systems for processing and managing student academic records, ensuring compliance with departmental, college, and university policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience in an administrative role, or Master's Degree in business, education, or a related field with 2 years of experience.
- Excellent initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through complex situations and manage crisis or changing situations effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to make sound and mature decisions and carry out assignments in an organized and timely manner.
- Excellent ability to develop and maintain harmonious and productive relationships with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other external constituents.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with superlative communication and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with enrollment management and course schedule planning.
- Knowledge of UMass systems.
- Experience using Microsoft Team, Slack, Zoom, or other online collaborative software.
This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, with occasional nights and weekends. The position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, subject to the terms and conditions of the PSU collective bargaining agreement.
Salary InformationLevel 26, with a salary range available upon request.
