This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies in the field of occupational health and safety. To be considered, applicants must follow the directions outlined in the "How to Apply" section of this flyer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate workplaces, facilities, and operations to identify potential hazards and risks.
- Analyze mishaps and hazardous conditions to determine their origin, causes, and contributing factors.
- Perform risk assessments of hazardous processes and working conditions to identify control measures that minimize or eliminate unsafe and unhealthy operations.
- Schedule safety inspections, surveys, and evaluations to ensure compliance with regulations and program requirements.
- Develop written reports and guidance based on inspections and other findings or conclusions.
- Promote safety through oral presentations, safety displays, and publications.
Requirements:
QualificationsTo be eligible for this position, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Inspecting the work environment for hazardous operational conditions.
- Identifying the origin, cause, and contributing elements of mishaps and hazardous conditions occurring in the work environment.
- Presenting safety and mishap prevention training to employees.
- Advising workers on safety requirements, potential accident-causing situations, and methods for preventing accidents.
Education:
Applicants may also be eligible if they have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Additional Information:
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. The selection of an annuitant is subject to the Department of Defense and Department of the Navy policy on the employment of annuitants.
