Position Summary:
The Meat Specialist at Uwajimaya is responsible for delivering top-notch customer service by preparing, wrapping, packaging, and showcasing the finest quality meat products to meet customer needs. This role requires a deep understanding of meat preparation, accurate pricing, and providing valuable cooking advice to customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining a friendly and approachable attitude.
  • Recognize and understand all types of meat available.
  • Wrap meat in appropriate trays or containers, ensuring accurate labeling and compliance with regulations.
  • Display meat products attractively and replenish stock based on sales activity.
  • Adhere to health department and company policies to ensure a safe environment.
  • Monitor and maintain proper temperatures for product freshness and safety.
  • Stay updated on promotions and events to assist customers effectively.
  • Guide customers on product usage, benefits, recipes, and cooking methods.
  • Address customer complaints and manage special orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the meat wrapping area, equipment, and display cases.
  • Check and replace any damaged or incorrect signage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
  • Union membership is required for employment at specific locations.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
  • Food Handler's Card is required.
  • Previous retail experience and knowledge of meat products is preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Basic math skills and familiarity with calculators are necessary.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate various shifts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
