We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Recology. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for performing safety and maintenance inspections, preventive maintenance on vehicles and/or heavy landfill equipment and/or stationary equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections on company vehicles, heavy landfill equipment, and stationary equipment.
- Accurately complete paperwork and/or computer database entries relating to the work performed, documenting parts and supply usage.
- Generate repair orders to communicate defects or areas of concerns for follow-up and/or corrective action.
- Perform minor repairs and cleaning of components as required.
- Operate forklift and other yard equipment as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in accordance with company policy and federal, state, and local requirements.
- Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
- One year of preventive maintenance mechanical experience with heavy vehicles.
- Waste and recycling industry experience preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of DOT Out-of-Service Criteria, including CHP B.I.T. Inspections and DOT compliance audits.
- Experience working in a maintenance facility or related environment with vehicles, processing equipment, such as balers, conveyors, hoppers, electric motors, and landfill equipment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of diesel and/or compressed natural gas engines, heavy equipment mechanical components, and use of tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of alternating and direct current electrical controls and motor systems.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local job site health and safety rules, regulations, and best practices; understanding of potential job hazards.
- Basic computer programs.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
