POSITION OVERVIEW
The Culinary Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring the availability and proper storage of food, supplies, and equipment. This role involves assisting in meal preparation and maintaining cleanliness in all food service areas to promote sanitation and safety.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position may involve overseeing Work-Based Learning students within the department, providing guidance and support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Facilitate the transfer of food, supplies, and equipment between storage and service areas.
2. Prepare fruits and vegetables by washing, peeling, and coring as required.
3. Arrange and dismantle tables and chairs for service.
4. Clean and store dishes, pots, pans, and utensils after use.
5. Maintain cleanliness by clearing, sanitizing, and organizing kitchen and dining areas.
6. Perform deep cleaning of kitchen appliances, including refrigerators, stoves, and ovens.
7. Ensure floors are kept clean through sweeping, mopping, and waxing as necessary.
8. Manage waste by cleaning and storing trash containers appropriately.
9. Sanitize vent screens and filters to maintain kitchen hygiene.
10. Deliver exceptional customer service consistently.
11. Complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
12. Uphold attendance and productivity standards.
13. Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines effectively.
14. Apply job knowledge to fulfill responsibilities competently and maintain necessary skills.
15. Model and mentor students in accordance with Career Success Standards.
16. Provide quality supervision and support to students, fostering a respectful environment.
17. Ensure services meet student needs and pursue continuous improvement.
18. Communicate ideas and information clearly, contributing to team efforts.
19. Analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions, ensuring follow-up actions are taken.
20. Collaborate with staff across departments to enhance student services.
21. Accept guidance from supervisory staff and perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with advanced degrees preferred. Experience in food service operations is advantageous. Ability to obtain local Food Handling/Health Certification is necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be capable of performing physical tasks such as sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching. The ability to lift up to 40 pounds is essential, along with the capacity to assess loads and seek assistance when needed.
