Job Summary

The Chief Auditor will report to the Director of Upstate Monitorships and will supervise an Investigative Auditor. The selected candidate will be responsible for participating in regular reviews of project documents, attending meetings, reviewing payment submittals and other records, and working with the monitorship team to identify risk areas for DEP and participate in the articulation of recommendations to DEP for improved contract compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise an Investigative Auditor
Requirements
  • A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business, or statistics, or a closely related field
  • Accounting degree, CFE/CPA certification preferred
  • Three years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one of a combination of the following: budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, fiscal or economic research, personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management
  • Experience supervising other auditors is preferred
  • Knowledge of the construction industry a plus
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated interest in, law enforcement and criminal justice
  • Relationship-builder with strong interpersonal skills who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing
  • Highly analytical thinker with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes
  • Excel proficiency is preferred
  • Knowledge of/ability to utilize data analytics platforms and/or auditing software
  • Familiarity with New York City a plus
  • Candidate must possess a valid New York State Drivers License
