**Position Overview**

Burns & McDonnell is looking for a Senior Transportation Engineer to enhance our dynamic Transportation Practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration in both independent and team settings.

In this role, you will join a dedicated team that values each member's contributions. Typical projects encompass a range of municipal roadway designs, multi-lane expressways, interstate projects, and complex interchange designs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technicians on transportation project design and analysis, as well as engaging with contractors and construction personnel on design/build initiatives.
  • Receiving guidance from Project Managers or Senior Project Engineers regarding expected outcomes.
  • Conducting research on design alternatives and presenting findings to Senior Project Engineers.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of engineering designs and plan production, adhering to standards, budgets, and schedules.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through workshops, professional journals, networking, and participation in professional societies.
  • Executing various components of roadway design, including horizontal and vertical alignments, typical sections, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, project quantity tabulation, cost estimation, and general plan production.

**Qualifications**

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably civil engineering with a focus on transportation.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience across diverse engineering projects. A Master of Science in Civil Engineering may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or actively pursuing PE licensure.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective presentation abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Capability to perform under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with transportation design standards, including AASHTO guidelines.
  • Experience with transportation engineering software such as Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, Geopak, and OpenRoads.
  • Experience working with municipal agencies and State Departments of Transportation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
