Agricultural Educator

Murfreesboro City Schools is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Farm Educator to join our team. As a key member of our Nutrition Department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative farm-to-school programs that promote healthy eating habits and sustainable agriculture practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the Farm to School Program, including crop planning, planting, and maintenance of school gardens and greenhouses.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement standards-based garden education programs.
• Provide fresh produce for taste testing, Chef Academy, and Edible Education programs.
• Manage program administration duties, including outreach, communication, budgeting, and record-keeping.
• Supervise Farm to School interns and provide guidance on farm-related lessons in classrooms.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in agriculture, public health, social sciences, or a related field.
• Master Gardener certification or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in working with children, gardening, food, or farm-to-school programs.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable farming practices and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

The Farm Educator will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent physical demands, including climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, digging, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. The ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently is required.
