Job Information

As a Senior Control Systems Engineer with the City of San Diego, you will play a critical role in administering and supervising the Automation and Process Control group for the Public Utilities Department. Your responsibilities will include operating and maintaining the Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Department Information Network (DIN), Facility Information Network (FIN), and the Process Information Network (PIN). You will also review designs and standardization of the control systems within and between facilities, evaluate and oversee the design, development, implementation, and testing of systems related to your area of responsibility, and develop and implement system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and supervise the Automation and Process Control group for the Public Utilities Department
  • Operate and maintain the Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Department Information Network (DIN), Facility Information Network (FIN), and the Process Information Network (PIN)
  • Review designs and standardization of the control systems within and between facilities
  • Evaluate and oversee the design, development, implementation, and testing of systems related to your area of responsibility
  • Develop and implement system enhancements to improve reliability and performance
Requirements
  • Four years of full-time professional industrial engineering project management experience which MUST include supervisory and managerial duties
  • Registration as a Professional Control Systems Engineer with the State of California
  • Experience with the Emerson Ovation, AVEVA Wonderware, or WDPF DCS technologies, application hardware/software
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA, and PC technologies
  • Experience with and knowledge of Industrial Controls CyberSecurity procedures and NIST Standards
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of full-time professional experience in a water/wastewater control system environment such as design, construction, facility start up, systems operation, or maintenance
