Job Overview

Visa is in search of a seasoned attorney specializing in marketing and advertising to become a vital part of the Global Product, IP, and Services legal team, specifically within the Marketing Legal division that supports the Visa Marketing organization.

Position Details

This role is designated for a Senior Managing Counsel, reporting directly to the Vice President overseeing the Marketing Legal team.

The position is flexible, allowing for a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in navigating the current legal and regulatory landscape relevant to marketing, which includes:

  • Marketing and promotions law
  • Privacy regulations
  • Contractual agreements
  • Licensing issues
  • Social media compliance
  • Behavioral advertising
  • Adware and adtech
  • Email and SMS marketing
  • Artificial intelligence implications
  • Emerging marketing technologies

Additionally, in-house experience collaborating with marketing teams and external agencies is essential, particularly in reviewing marketing executions promptly to meet tight deadlines.

The candidate must be a business-oriented team player, demonstrating collaboration with both marketing and legal colleagues while working independently in a dynamic environment.

Core Functions

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal counsel on marketing, advertising, offers, and promotions, with a focus on drafting and negotiating marketing-related contracts.
  • Reviewing marketing communications and creative content, such as press releases, web and social media copy, consumer and B2B advertising, marketing presentations, and studies.
  • Advising on promotional offers, contests, and sweepstakes.
  • Establishing an efficient intake system for marketing legal reviews of creative assets and managing associated processes.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a diverse range of contracts related to creative, media, talent, and other marketing activities.

This role is designed to foster a collaborative and efficient legal support system for the marketing initiatives at Visa.
